Police searching for the missing sister-in-law of actor Mackenzie Crook have found a body.

Laurel Aldridge, 62, was reported missing from her home in Walberton, near Arundel, West Sussex, on 14 February.

Crook, who is known for roles in The Office, Pirates Of The Caribbean and Worzel Gummidge, had made public appeals to find Ms Aldridge, who is his wife’s elder sister.

In a statement, Sussex Police said: “Sadly the body of a woman has been found in the Tortington Lane area of Arundel.

“At this stage, the family of missing Laurel Aldridge have been informed and we are seeking to confirm the identity of the woman.”

Crook, 51, previously described his sister-in-law as a “wonderful mother” and “usually very happy” in his appeal for information to help find her.

He said her disappearance was “very out of character” and added that she had missed a chemotherapy session on the day she went missing.

Police previously said that Ms Aldridge was “considered very vulnerable”.

They asked residents in the Walberton and Slindon areas to check their outbuildings for any sightings of her.
