A police station has been closed and cordoned off after a suspected Second World War hand grenade was handed in at the front desk.

Malinsgate police station in Telford, Shropshire, and the road outside remains closed on Tuesday, with a 50-metre cordon in place around the building.

West Mercia Police said the device was handed in at the station on Tuesday afternoon.
