A teacher allegedly planned a “date night” with an “Ann Summers scratch card” and “rose petals” before revealing to one of her alleged teenage victims that she was pregnant with his child, a court has heard.
Rebecca Joynes, 30, allegedly took the teenager’s virginity when he was 16, Manchester Crown Court heard, and had sex with him about 30 times before revealing she was expecting their child.
Video interviews which boy B gave to the police after the teacher was arrested for a second time were shown to the jury, during which the youngster claims he was reassured he had been “great” after he lost his virginity to Joynes, the court heard.
Joynes was already suspended from her high school job and on bail for alleged sexual activity with another schoolboy, boy A, 15, when she allegedly kissed and fondled the second, boy B, after sending him a photo of her bottom wearing just a thong, a jury heard.
Joynes denies any sexual activity took place, has pleaded not guilty to six charges of sexual activity with two teenagers and is on trial at Manchester Crown Court. Neither teenager can be identified.
Recalling the first time he allegedly had sex with the teacher after she picked him up and took him to her apartment in Salford Quays, boy B said: “Obviously, it was my first time, so I was nervous.”
He claimed he and Joynes had sex around 30 times before her arrest and that he initially viewed the relationship as “friends with benefits”.
Boy B said Joynes had told him she could not have a baby and they had unprotected sex, but in fact she discovered she was pregnant.
The relationship also soured, with frequent rows, as Joynes became jealous and controlling, he claimed.
Boy B told police the day before Joynes was arrested for a second time, over sexual contact with him, she had planned a “date night” involving an Ann Summers scratch card of sexual activities, rose petals and hidden notes around her flat, leading to “surprises” which he played along with and followed.
He continued: “At the end it was a baby grow. It said something like, ‘Best Dad’ and I was like, ‘What the f***!’
“She started crying and I started crying, because we were undecided whether to get rid of it or not.
“That was probably the lowest point, we were irresponsible. It’s my own fault. I also thought, ‘what the f*** am I going to do?’
“I can’t hide a kid. I had hid the relationship for 18 months from my parents.”
Boy A has told the court he lied to his mother that he was staying at his friend’s house, but instead was at Joynes’ apartment where they twice had sex.
Police then received an anonymous tip-off and Joynes was arrested and suspended from her job while police investigated.
While on bail, she allegedly became involved with boy B, who she became pregnant by.
Joynes denies six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while being a person in a position of trust.
The trial has been adjourned until Monday.
