Patrick Mahomes leads shocked athletes after Xavier Worthy sets new 40-yard dash record

Sports

Xavier Worthy made headlines at the NFL combine Saturday, setting a 40-yard dash record with a time of 4.21 seconds.

The Texas Longhorns wide receiver broke the record of former wide receiver John Ross, who ran a 4.22 at the 2017 NFL combine. Worthy ran an unofficial time of 4.25 on his first attempt. He followed that up with an unofficial time of 4.22, later adjusted to 4.21 on the official clock, on his second run.

Worthy, who had 1,014 receiving yards and five touchdowns with the Longhorns last season, entered the combine as the No. 32 pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft.

His potential teammate Patrick Mahomes was among many in the sports world to react to the record on social media.
