Trump reveals JD Vance as running mate for US election

Donald Trump has announced Ohio senator JD Vance as his running mate for November’s US election.

The former venture capitalist and New York Times best-selling author, 39, will become Mr Trump’s vice president if he wins November’s election.

Mr Trump said on his social network, Truth Social, that Mr Vance was his pick for running mate.

Ohio-born Mr Vance entered into the world of venture capitalism after graduating from Yale Law School.

He came to prominence in 2016 with his memoir Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis – which detailed his upbringing and socioeconomic problems in his home town in Ohio.

Trump is currently set to go up against incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden in the race for the White House.
