Body found at sea after search is woman reported missing in Edinburgh

A body has been found at sea in the search for a missing woman who disappeared in Edinburgh.

Alison Campbell, 50, was last seen leaving a property in Murrayfield Avenue at around 3.10am on Tuesday.

Ms Campbell drove off in her red Toyota Aygo, which was later found in the Cramond Beach area of the city.

Police Scotland launched a search with support from the coastguard and recovered a body from the sea at Gullane, East Lothian, on Wednesday morning.

The force said the body has been formally identified as Ms Campbell.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
